The Tommy Shorts
Pattern Tester Application
We are calling for pattern testers to test our Tommy shorts pattern for kids.
PATTERN INFO:
The Tommy shorts are a comfortable, mid to high waist, A-frame, elastic waist wardrobe essential. This is a gender neutral sewing pattern that is extremely versatile.
The shorts feature an elastic waistband and a wider fit to ensure comfort as your child explores the world. They also come with a back pocket option to store special finds such as rocks and flowers.
The shorts come in 3 views:
+ View A: Base pattern
+ View B: Boxer short style
+ View C: Ruffle hem shorts
SIZING:
The pattern comes in sizes newborn - 7 years.
If the child is wearing a nappy they fall more at the mid-waist and if the child is without a nappy they fall closer to the high waist.
Please view the measurement chart to decide on your child size.
FABRIC:
We recommend using lightweight-midweight linen or cotton or similar.
We usually opt for natural fibres but of course, use your own creative vision to direct your fabric choice.
INTERFACING:
If you are sewing the boxer short style (View B) we recommend a weft fusible interfacing to reinforce the fly facing, however this is optional. A woven interfacing will work too (be sure to cut it on the grain!)
Match the weight of the interfacing to the weight of your fabric.
Our aim is to make all our patterns simple and understandable enough for even beginners to use. To do this we provide step by step instructions and try to break down the process and hold your hand through it. Due to this, the testing call is open to all levels of sewing and we greatly appreciate feedback on how well the instructions guided you.
We rate the pattern itself as a beginner pattern.
The pattern is supplied as a large format A0 PDF file, a print at home PDF and in a projector format PDF.
TESTING PERIOD
It is a 2 week testing period: Monday July 6 - Monday July 20.
